Next Wednesday, May 18th, is our graduation day! We will be having a virtual day for all freshmen, sophomores and juniors in order to run multiple graduation day activities with our seniors. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Also, congratulations to all of our graduating seniors for persevering through unprecedented hurdles to achieve their goals! Graduation will be at 7:00 at the Lions Wilderness Amphitheater, all are welcome to attend.

After constant and continued advocacy from our students, we have decided to extend the opportunity to all Vista Nueva students to participate in off-campus lunch. However, because this is a change in our school policy, we will require signed permission slips for your student. Students will be provided these permission forms to bring home with them today. Aztec High School Students! San Juan County is again hosting the “Summer Enrichment Internship Program” and will place students in paid internships throughout the county. Current high school students or graduates of the classes of 2021 and 2022 are eligible and must be at least 16 years old before this summer to participate. Student participants must provide their own transportation to their internship locations. Spots are limited and the application deadline to apply is May 26th. Internships will begin the week of June 20th and will go for six weeks until July 29th. Students will participate in industry internships with local businesses and receive employability workshops for a total of 20 hours a week and will be paid $12 an hour. The application can be found at www.sjcounty.net under apply now and the position is titled “2022 Summer Intern.” Thank you to the NMPED and San Juan County for making this amazing learning experience available to our students
Aztec Businesses! Do you need some help this summer and would like to mentor local students in your industry? San Juan County is again hosting the “Summer Enrichment Internship Program” this summer and will place students in paid internships throughout the county. If you are interested, please email Tara Martinez at tamartinez@sjcounty.net with your business name, contact information, how many interns you would like to place at your business, a brief description of the industry, and a brief summary of the learning opportunities and work experience the students will gain. Good Morning Vista Family,
Tomorrow, our Junior class will be taking the SAT Reading and Math Examinations. All Juniors need to be at school by 8:00 with their chromebook and charger. Students will meet in the math classroom for testing.
All other grade levels will be in remote learning for the day. Assignments will be posted to google classroom and we will resume regularly scheduled classes on Thursday.
Additionally, we do not have school this Friday, April 15th. Good luck to our Juniors and enjoy the three day weekend.

Reminder, tomorrow all students in grades 9,10 and 11 will be taking the STAR Reading and Math middle of year assessments. Seniors will be meeting with Mrs. Dusenbery and Mrs. Deane to go over multiple agenda items. Tomorrow and Friday are parent/teacher conferences and students will be dismissed at 12:25 tomorrow. There will be no school for students on Friday. If you have not signed up for a parent/teacher conference or are having trouble doing so, please contact Mrs. Klohn in the front office tomorrow morning. Finally, tomorrow evening I will be holding an information and feedback session about some of the changes we are considering for next school year. Update: While the snow has subsided, the roads in many areas of the AMSD have substantial ice making travel unsafe for students and staff who may need to travel to complete remote learning. Earlier today the NMPED released and updated COVID-19 Toolkit for schools to follow. One of the most significant changes in the new toolkit is a change in quarantine time for students.

Students should be wrapping up their semester. As such, all teachers will have office hours tomorrow via Google Meets for students to meet, clarify any last minute assignment questions and to check in on grades. Please ask students to look for the links to these Google Meets sessions within their Google Classroom announcements. The schedule of office hours will be as follows: Dobbs 10:00 - 11:00, Zarko 11:00 - 12:00, McClung 12:00 - 1:00, Dusenberry 1:00 - 2:00. Teachers will be available to support students at any other times throughout the week as well, but this will be a good opportunity to meet live for any clarity. Again, thank you all for your patience with this situation.
